Friends for life - from childhood friendships to children of our own
Today is the birthday of my inaanak (goddaughter) Jelana, daughter of my childhood and other Bestfriend, Jam. I can't believe it is already 5 years ago since we last knew she was pregnant. I mean we were already of age but the situation that she got pregnant was just untimely, maybe because she just got out of a relationship, she has a very conservative family, she was a public figure (a city councilor) among others. We have to keep her condition under wraps. She would wear spanx and let me buy her preggo milk. And yet those were special times. It never stopped us from doing what we usually do. We were "partners in crime", travels and gimik wise. What stuck the most was our trip to Boracay with the other girls while she was 3 months on the way. We would joke how in spite of our age we never had a one night stand. So we tried going to Juice bar that night only to find out that this bar is actually a usual hang out for the pink market.. But we had loads of fun that night. My cousin, Arlene who was the youngest of our group was with us and we would let her approach the guys and she would tell them, "hey my friend wants to meet you" and we would just laugh after. I wanted to meet that chinito looking guy, maybe he's from Singapore or Korea. I used to have a thing for chingky eyed guys. But he just never took a glance at me. So maybe he's more into boys. We have lots of funny memories of that night. We didn't manage to have a one night stand though. But those were one for the books.. Anyways forward to present - Jam is a doting mom, she's still in politics although one in the background - she works for the senate. We would still go out from time to time. I would stay with her when I'm in Manila. We are still each other's trusted confidante. And Nana is growing up beautifully - wise, pretty and has a strong personality like her mom..
